////////////////////////// DEEJAYS///////////////////////////

:: JONN HAWLEY :: OM Records, Large Music, Lingo Recordings

Music and dance have always been driving forces in Jonn Hawley's life. At age nine Hawley learned to play the saxophone, cello, and stand up bass. As a teenager music continued to shape the course of Hawley's life; in the late eighties he began break dancing. In 1991 Jonn started actively pursuing his love of music as a deejay. Hawley drew inspiration from the budding house and techno music scenes in Milwaukee, Chicago, and Detroit. His career as deejay was influenced by the sounds of brother Michael J and other deejays such as Derrick Carter, Ralphi Rosario, Mark Farina, Derrick May, Green Velvet and Fast Eddie. Hawley's musical talents were quickly recognized.

Along with playing at numerous raves he soon found himself playing at some of the most influential clubs in Chicago and Milwaukee, such as: Karma, Red No. 5, Smart Bar, Mad Bar, Dragon Room, Tom Tom, Three ,and Thai Joes. He was also named resident deejay at Milwaukees Summerfest in 1999. In 2000 Hawley decided to put together all the pieces of musical knowledge he had acquired throughout his life and dive into the world of production. In 2002 Hawley began releasing tracks using the aliases Under Origin and 5900 West. He also established Foundation 75, his production studio.

Then in 2003 Hawley launched his label, Soul Fuel Recordings at the Winter Music Conference in Miami, Florida. Currently, Hawley is busy traveling to deejay, releasing tracks on his own, as the Sound Navigators, and with partner in crime Marcus Aurelius as Organized Crime on various underground house labels and his own label Soul Fuel Recordings. Whether he is deejaying, producing, or running his label the one sure and unchanging characteristic of Hawley's style is this: He will never be ordinary...

:: TERRY GRANT :: Bedrock, Deep, Baroque

In 2005, Terry Grant released his first single on Bedrock Records. The song, "I'll Kill You" featured remixes by Luke Chable & John Debo, and was one of the most successful progressive tracks of the year. He would go on to release the follow up "Be My Guide" on Deep Recordings (with remixes by 16 Bit Lolitas & Derek Howell), and complete various remixes for acts including Darkarma and Blue Room Project.

2006 saw the release of "Komputers Are The Devil" on Bedrock, and since then he has maintained a steady stream of records and remixes for Nettwerk, System, Baroque, and others.

Recently, Terry has made a definite shift in terms of sound - moving away somewhat from the dark and brooding melody that defined his early work, to a more funky tech/house oriented sound. The result is new partnerships with the labels Night Drive Music & Neurotraxx Deluxe, both of which will be releasing new music by Terry in the upcoming months.

Aside from production and Djing, Terry keeps busy as a session musician, having played guitar on several cuts from the first record by Morgan Page, including the grammy nominated song "The Longest Road" (which Terry also remixed). This successful collaboration led to Terry playing all the guitar on Morgan's new record "Believe", which is out this spring.

A strong desire to push the limits of what he is capable of as a producer and a dj will keep Terry moving forward into the future, experimenting with sound, and practicing the disciplines of funk, melody, and rhythm.

:: TREVOR LAMONT :: Lexington, KY

Trevor Lamont has been a DJ since college in 1987. During that time house was starting to take hold within the Philadelphia scene. Temple University and the University of Pennsylvania would have parties which were half house and hip hop.

Trevor started playing records in 1987, and was influenced early by the likes of Frankie Knuckles and Louie Vega through his involvement in the club scenes in New York and Philadelphia. From avid club goer to aspiring DJ,Trevor has put his heart and soul in the music he loves..., House.

In the 1990's, Trevor moved to Lexington, KY, where he continues to DJ today. Along the way, he joined forces with Justin Long, Halo, Traxx, Sam-Me, and B: PM to form the Teamsters, a collection of DJs from around the Midwest united by their love of house music. During the mid 90's, the Teamsters became one of the dominant forces in house scenes across the Midwest. Beyond his work with the Teamsters, Trevor also worked as a member of the Soul Brothaz, another collective of DJs, which also included the East Coast Boogiemen and Sam-Me.

Trevor's love of jazzy, sexy, deep, underground house music, combined with his smooth, layered mixing skills have brought him gigs across the United States and Canada. Highlights include playing for Scott Henry and Charles Feelgood's world-renowned night Fever in Baltimore, and playing for some of the most renowned promoters in the industry including Ultraworld out of Baltimore and Liquid Groove out of Atlanta.

Over the years, he has had the opportunity to play alongside talents such as Derrick Carter, DJ Dan, Josh Wink, King Britt, Dubtribe, Onionz, Johnny Fiasco, and countless others.

Currently Trevor maintains a steady schedule of clubs dates and works as A&R for Headset Records. Stay tuned here for any and all updates!!!

Guru Dead At 43

Just over a month since undergoing surgery following a heart attack, Gang Starr MC Guru (born Keith Elam) has died at age 43. According to a statement, Guru died of cancer-related causes on Monday after a long fight with the disease.

Guru’s longtime collaborator and partner, French producer Solaar (sometimes referred to as Solar now), mourns his loss in the statement and explains that Guru had written a letter to his fans that was to be released upon his death.

“The world has lost one of the best MCs and hip-hop icons of all-time — my loyal best friend, partner, and brother, Guru,” Solaar said. “Guru has been battling cancer for well over a year and has lost his battle! This is a matter that Guru wanted private until he could beat it, but tragically, this did not happen. The cancer took him. Now the world has lost a great man and a true genius.”

The anti-T-Pain by Moog

MF-401 Auto De-tune

$799.00
Do the vocals on your favorite song sound like a vocoded chipmunk? Yes(?). Did you use extreme auto-tune settings in the sensitive ballad you wrote for your girlfriend, who then dumped you because, as Jay Z said, "Auto-tune is Dead". Never fear, you can now recapture the emotive intensity of your original vocal performance complete with the off-kilter, yet somewhat charming intonation for which you are known.

Introducing Moog Music's MF-401 Auto De-tune, featuring Authentic Vocal Imperfection(tm) technology, even a T-Pain vocal can be restored to its complete original character, scrubbing the pitch correction and leaving the untreated vocal in all its wavering sharp or flat glory. Results may vary, and Moog Music in no way bears responsibility for discomfort or irritation caused by the use of the MF-401.

Shipping begins April 1, 2010

The MF-401 can be used to treat your vocals to be off-key in a variety of ways.
Presets include:

•Drunk as a Sailor
•Seattle sensitive alternative warble
•Where did all the green room beer go?
•Original Star Trek cast member attempts to make pop music
•My vocal monitor is blown, so Soundman, please mix me REALLY low
•Mrs. Miller
•Too punk rock to turn down your !#$%&*!! stage volume
•Cat in an alley under a full moon
•Tone Def
•Florence Foster Jenkins

Each preset can be adjusted to taste or lack thereof with the Warble rate, Deviation range, Emotive Overload, and Caterwaul rotary controls, allowing a virtually infinite variety and depth of vocal expression and variation.

It's time to take back the airwaves. Too long have our ears been fooled by processed, homogenized, artificially-in-tune vocals. It's time to bring back the REAL sound of performers' voices with Moog's MF-401 Auto De-Tune!
